Oles, City of Santa Monica

Hi all - how does your City handle PD employees receiving a court subpoena while they are off work for a workers' compensation claim? Our practice has been to let them attend court hearings without an additional pay since they're receiving 4850 pay. If you have any policy regarding this issue, can you please share it? Thank you.

The practice in Santa Barbara is identical to Bakersfield.

Good morning!  We do not allow them to attend unless they are released to modified duty by the medical provider.  We have a good working relationship with our primary treating physicians and we just send them back and have them temporarily released to modified duty for the court hearing only.
