04/26/2021 Defensive Driving Program

The platform we currently use for our Defensive Driving Program(DDP), TargetSolutions, removed the 2-hour DDP training on their site. Instead, they replaced it with 12 courses each 30 minutes long. We are reluctant to assign 12 required courses to folks authorized to take the training.  What are your current training requirements for your Defensive Driving Program and how often do you administer the training?

The City of Bakesfield has supervisory staff certified to train the Smith System Defensive Driver Program.  With the addition of our Safety Officer this past year, he will be certified in the next few months.

When staff are trained, it is about 2 hours of classroom and 2 hours of behind the wheel training for a group of 3 employees.
